“Ukraine is NOT losing” — that was the firm message delivered in a recent interview, offering a perspective that challenges many of the headlines circulating today.

“Ukraine is NOT losing,” — Zelensky in an interview with The Atlantic

Kyiv Post collected key takeaways from the Ukrainian president’s latest interview.

“There is no greater victory for Trump than to stop the war between Russia and Ukraine,” Zelensky said. “For his legacy, it’s No. 1.”

“The most advantageous situation for Trump is to do this before the midterms. Yes, he wants there to be less deaths. But if you and I are talking like adults, it’s just a victory for him, a political one.”

Zelensky expressed readiness for negotiations — but only on fair terms, stressing that peace must be dignified and lasting, not a quick deal for political optics.

“I don’t think we should put a bad deal up for a referendum,” Zelensky stated. The idea of holding elections during the war, he said, came from the Russians, “because they want to get rid of me.”

“We’re not afraid of anything. Are we ready for elections? We’re ready. Are we ready for a referendum? We’re ready.”

“We are in a hurry to end the war,” he said. But that’s not the same, he emphasized, as rushing to cut a deal, no matter the terms.

Kyiv insists that any path to peace must begin with real security guarantees from the US and Europe to prevent future Russian aggression.
