Coronation Street viewers have rumbled Jodie’s next move. From getting cosy with David Platt to keeping their dad’s health a secret from her sister, Jodie has been quick to ruffle feathers since she made her debut on the cobbles last month. Olivia Frances Brown’s character Jodie was first introduced to fans during the epic Corriedale crossover episode.
With many questions circulating as to why Jodie was tied up in the back of Graham Foster’s van, it was later revealed that Jodie is Shona Platt’s half-sister. Jodie has succeeded in making her way into the Platt family, after a concerned David offered her a place to stay just hours after meeting her for the first time.
It looks like Jodie is on the cobbles for good, slotting seamlessly into life in Weatherfield after recently starting a secret relationship with bad boy Carl Webster despite warnings from her sister and those around her.
On Monday, Shona and Jodie’s estranged dad was introduced to viewers, which only heighted suspicions that Jodie is hiding something ever deeper than first thought. Tuesday saw Jodie purposely get her sister drunk before calling David to take them home.
While a drunken Shona headed to bed, Jodie spoke to David and asked him to watch a film with her on the couch. But things got even stranger on Wednesday when Jodie’s eagerness for some alone time with David had fans predicting what she could be up to.
When David popped into the café, Jodie, who has landed herself a job there, asked: “Are you here for a coffee or for me?”
David was taken aback by his sister-in-law’s greeting, with many viewers picking up on Jodie’s odd behaviour.
She thanked David for taking the time to comfort her the previous night. After David said it was nothing, she said: “It was so much more than that, the way you were and the way you’ve been right from me crashing into your life. I’ll never be able to thank you enough.”
Later in the Bistro, David spoke to Nick about Jodie. Nick said she seems “nice enough”, but David said there’s “something not right about her”. But will David be able to get to the bottom of whatever Jodie is planning?
Taking to social media, Coronation Street fans have decided to make their own predictions about what Jodie is up to. Some are suggesting Jodie wants to take over Shona’s life, first taking her job before moving on to her husband and kids.
On X, one said: “I find it weird Jodie’s taking over Shona’s shifts at the cafe… it’s like she wants her life or something.”
A second said: “So is Jodie trying to split up David and Shona or what’s her deal?” A third asked: “Is Jodie going to make a move on David?”
A fourth said: “Surely the writers aren’t going to pair lovely David with the nasty Jodie?” while a fifth came to the conclusion: “Obviously things are eventually going to go bad between Shona, David, and Jodie.”
Although viewers are predicting Jodie to make a move on David Platt, David is having none of it so far.
At the end of the episode, Jodie opened up her secret box of trinkets to reveal a necklace pendant which featured a photograph of two unknown young girls. What is Jodie hiding?
