Five men found guilty of setting mom on fire in front of daughter in horrific revenge plot
A 31-year-old woman suffered burns to 65% of her body and a teenage girl was burned after men poured petrol into their Bentilee home in a revenge attack. Five men were found guilty at Nottingham Crown Court while five others admitted their roles

Five men have been convicted following a violent attack that left a woman and a teenage girl with serious burn injuries. An additional five men pleaded guilty to their involvement in the incidents, which took place in December 2021.
Following an 11-week trial at Nottingham Crown Court, Det Con Howard Davies of Staffordshire Police stated: “This was a horrific ordeal for a mother to be set on fire in her own home in front of her daughter by a number of men seeking revenge.”
Staffordshire Police revealed that the trouble started on the afternoon of December 16, 2021, when Naveed Hussain, 32, Bilal Ahmed, 26, Kashif Ahmed, 25, and Ali Abbas, 22 – all from Stoke-on-Trent – became embroiled in a fight on Kildare Street in Longton.
During the altercation, Kashif Ahmed sustained a stab wound to his shoulder and was hospitalized for treatment, reports the Express.
Later that same evening, just before 11pm, a group of men descended on a property on Beverley Drive in the Bentilee area, demanding to speak with Hussain.
According to police, the assailants shattered downstairs windows before dousing the hallway near the front door and the area outside the living room window with petrol.
A 31 year old woman inside the property was struck on the head before being set ablaze, suffering burns to 65% of her body. Her injuries were so critical at the time that she was not expected to survive, and she remained in a coma for two months.
She survived, but sustained life-altering injuries that necessitate continuous medical treatment.
A 13 year old girl also suffered burns covering 15% of her right arm and right leg.
The pair managed to flee by breaking an upstairs window and leaping from the building. In the process, the woman sustained a fractured pelvis, broken ribs and a lacerated liver.

Tayyeb Majeed, 23, of Stoke-on-Trent – convicted of grievous bodily harm with intent
Before the trial, the following five men pleaded guilty to offences:
- Ali Abbas, 22, of Stoke-on-Trent – admitted to two counts of attempted murder and arson with intent to endanger life and violent disorder
Haris Mahmood, 21, of Stoke-on-Trent – admitted to two counts of attempted murder and arson with intent to endanger life
Naveed Hussain, 32, of Stoke-on-Trent – admitted violent disorder and possession of a knife blade/sharp pointed article in a public place
Kashif Ahmed, 25, of Stoke-on-Trent – admitted violent disorder
Bilal Ahmed, 26, of Stoke-on-Trent – admitted violent disorder.
