The WASPI dispute points to broader concerns regarding access to DWP help, according to experts. Thousands of women may be failing to claim support to which they are entitled.
The WASPI campaign (Women Against State Pension Inequality) represents women born in the 1950s who were impacted when the state pension age for women rose from 60 to 65, and subsequently to 66. They maintain the DWP failed to adequately notify them that they would need to wait several more years to receive their payments, leaving their retirement plans in tatters when they discovered the changes.
